Clock in / clock out: a few habits that save you later

2026-09-18 · Timesheet Team

Clock in when you actually start, not fifteen minutes before. It's tempting to start the timer at the top of the hour out of habit, but that's exactly how totals drift away from reality over a month.

Attach a note and a project every time, even for small tasks. A one-line note — 'bug triage', 'client call' — is what makes a weekly report useful instead of just a number.

Clock out before you close your laptop, not after you remember the next morning. Every timesheet tool, including this one, only prevents one running timer per person — it can't stop a timer that's still going because you forgot.

Review your week before it ends. A five-minute look at Friday afternoon catches missing entries while you still remember what you were doing, instead of guessing weeks later.
